DIAZ is a cost effective 3 way loudspeaker which approaches the target set by our reference Segovia Trueno38 system: natural music reproduction, a dynamic, neutral speaker with full bass bandwidth.

In order to achieve the design aims, a membrane planar midrange and tweeter are mounted on a lead damped baffle giving dipole operation above 400Hz.

Two 220mm units in parallel ensure good bass power bandwidth, equivalent to a 305mm driver, in an optimum low Q closed box. These unique aluminium drivers feature heavy copper shorting rings above and below the pole piece reducing intermodulation distortion by a factor of up to 5 times.

A stereo amplifier of 100 - 300W RMS is recommended. An additional 50 - 100W RMS amplifier for the upper section is required when bi-amping.

Diaz’s membrane drivers have extremely low moving mass when compared with moving coil units and exhibit near perfect resistive impedance characteristics.

Distortion is low with unsurpassed transient decay performance.

Wide dispersion in the horizontal plane, narrow in the vertical plane minimises interaction with room absorption characteristics

The high quality crossover uses polypropylene capacitors and iron cored inductors throughout the main signal path.Three HF responses, one of which is flat to 20kHz, are provided by rear panel selection to emulate normal (dome) characteristics in different room environments.

Alirio Diaz, was one of the most famous guitar performers in the mid 20th century, performing concerts throughout the world.

Venezuelan and pupil of Raul Borges, founder of the Venezuelan guitar school, he played his first concert in 1950. Diaz became, and was the first assistant to Segovia until 1964.

He promoted many South
American composers such as Barrios, Lauro, Mangorè, Sojo, Cordero,
Carreño and others.

Guitarists are also aware of his many excellent transcriptions from the
works of baroque authors such as Scarlatti, Corbetta and V. Galilei.
