Alirio
Diaz, was one of the most famous guitar performers in the mid
20th century, performing concerts throughout the world.
Venezuelan
and pupil of Raul Borges, founder of the Venezuelan guitar school,
he played his first concert in 1950. Diaz became, and was the
first assistant to Segovia until 1964.
He
promoted many South
American composers such as Barrios, Lauro, Mangorè, Sojo,
Cordero,
Carreño and others.
Guitarists
are also aware of his many excellent transcriptions from the
works of baroque authors such as Scarlatti, Corbetta and V. Galilei.
